So this is a really cool idea of very basic and simple sculpture making... For my Art 110 class I had to go to the beach, dig a hole, bury my hand (creating a mold), pull my hand out, fill the hole with plaster of paris, wait 30 minutes, and discover an odd yet fantastic portrayal of my very own hand!! It was much simpler than anticipated and a very cool idea. Here are the results:
Started by putting my husband to work: digging me a hole |
Yep! My arm is in place! |
2 parts plaster, 1 part water |
Mixing that plaster |
Pour the Plaster |
Done-wait 30 minutes |
Wa-La! Its a monster!! |
TWO vErY absurd AWESOME artists that I researched...
Yayoi Kusama:
Japanese Avant-garde sculptor, painter and novelist (1929-present)
Polly Morgan:
British Taxidermist Artist (1980-present)
